If all goes well, Double Fine’s Brutal Legend will make its Rocktober 13th release date, despite a lawsuit from Activision asking for a delay. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Craig Karlan said today that he is not inclined to delay the games release, however, he delayed a formal decision by a week due to a full schedule and to allow attorney’s his full attention during their endless bickering.
Shortly after this year’s E3, Activision suddenly remembered that they had initially invested 15 million into the project, and sued Double Fine Productions claiming they owned the game’s rights. Double Fine later counter-sued, claimging Activision’s only motive was in protecting its Guitar Hero franchise (both titles revolve around rock music). Meanwhile, EA sat idly-by, happy that for the first time (in a long time) gamers weren’t calling them a money-hungry gaming monopoly. Oh, how the times have changed.
