Guitar Hero Christmas light extravaganza

December 18, 2009 |  by Ben Z Cooper  |  Random Stuff

This what happens when geeks get really into the Christmas spirit. Ric Turner is a former Disney imagineer and special effects specialists modded his Christmas lights into a game of Guitar Hero. In this video, the over 21,268 lights and LEDs are used to play Eric Johnson’s “Cliffs of Dover.” Every evening, neighbours and passerbys can tune into 99.1 to watch the light show blink to the music.

The lights are actually working with the game as a simplified version of easy mode. Apparently its quite tough to hit the notes just right since there are only a couple of steps before it hits the bar. The lights don’t provide the same timing as the Guitar Hero and no one has been able to play the game without getting an error so far.

For more geeky information about the build of this epic mod, MakeZine. All this makes me wonder… Whats it going to be next year?
