Nintendo reinforces its hatred of Metroid by discontinuing recent Trilogy

nintendo doesn't care about metroids

As a fan of Retro’s Metroid Prime series I was a little dumbfounded, not to mention pissed, with how Nintendo treated the release of 2007’s Metroid Prime: Corruption. To say that it’s release was almost completely ignored would be pretty accurate. Others noticed this as well, most notably Matt Casamassina over at IGN who publicly stated his dissapointment with the Big N’s treatment of the game.

So color me surprised when last year Nintendo released a Wii collection of all three Retro-created Metroid titles. Perhaps Nintendo had turned a new leaf?

Wrong. We can now confirm that after only FOUR months, Nintendo has ceased production and shipping of the Metroid Prime: Trilogy for the Wii. No reason has been given, only a statement reminding gamers that they may “still be able to locate a copy via stores that specialize in previously played or used games.” Many are speculating that poor sales are to blame – the title has only shipped half a million copies to date. I, once again, blame Nintendo’s reluctance to bring any public awareness to this collection. Honestly, did anyone even see an ad?

Either way, if you see a copy of Metroid Collection – GRAB IT!
