Bad news for those of you who still enjoy the occasional round of Crimson Skies or Halo 2 on Xbox Live, as of April 15th Microsoft will be shutting down Live service to the original Xbox – and consequently any original Xbox title. Yes, even those sold through the current Xbox Live Marketplace. According to Microsoft’s Major Nelson, “this change will allow us to continue evolving the LIVE service with new features and experiences that fully harness the power of Xbox 360 and the Xbox LIVE community.” He added that the decision was not made lightly.
Likewise, Bungie, who found great success on Live with Halo 2, plans to have one last “hoorah” with the title on April 14th. So mark that date on your calendar.
